I monitored the events of the day the moment I found out TurningPoint USA Founder, Charlie Kirk, had been shot. I had sources connected at the White House and knew thirty-minutes before President Trump's announcement that Charlie had died of his wound.
I grieve, but knowing Charlie is with our Lord and Savior, however I am grieving to be sure. I am heartbroken for his wife and his two children. There will be plenty of time to remember the incredible force Charlie was in our nation, but for now I am holding back my rage.
Tomorrow's guests have been notified that their appearances are cancelled. Tomorrow I will do my very best to keep things between the rails. I will take your calls - misery not only loves, but at times needs, company.
Yes, I am angry. I have been texted about the "rejoicing over Charlie's murder by users on Reddit and BlueSky." The text to me went on to say, we cannot live with "those people."
I am not unsympathetic to that idea. In fact, it was that thought running around in my mind which inspired(?) my one-minute monologue. The only motivation for this killing is ideological, political. Anyone (on either side of the aisle) who actually ever met and talked with Charlie walked away thinking, "What a good guy!"
Certainly, some may not agree with him, but the number of folks who genuinely liked the guy regardless of viewpoint underscores that an illiberal killed him. I know it. I know it because illiberals cannot engage in debate and discussion without profanity and personal attacks. Whoever this illiberal is was so frightened by Charlie's intellectual heft and influence he (guessing) had to murder him.
We will find out who did the deed. Does Utah allow for firing squads?
On the floor of the U.S. House when GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert asked for a moment of prayer for Charlie Kirk, Democrats can be heard shouting, "No!"
Then, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna shouted, "Y'all caused this!"
She might not be wrong.
Today, sin was on display ... the act by one and the reaction by way too many.
This is what I wrote for my commentary which will begin airing tomorrow:
"Utah Valley University, in Orem, Utah ... a loathesome, cowardly illiberal, America-hating assassin shot and killed TurningPoint USA founder Charlie Kirk. One shot was fired and Kirk was shot in the neck from a building about 200 yards away.
Kirk was literally a sitting target.
As a friend said to me, Charlie Kirk was the nice guy who talked to the left, met them on their terms, on their ground ... college campuses.
The Reddit and BlueSky community is rejoicing in Charlie’s death. It’s sickening and any who think that way should be shunned in all of society.
Charlie Kirk engaged in civil discourse.
THAT will be very difficult moving forward because as a former producer of mine said, WE are Charlie Kirk and that is what they think of us.
I agree ... and to all illiberals who think that statement is a little extreme.
Prove it."
