The history of the property known as Skinwalker Ranch is filled with lore. However, while little is known about the settled ranch's history prior to the 1990s, a great deal is known about what has happened there since.
In the lore is found a dispute between two Indian tribes. The curse of the Skinwalkers, said to have been spoken by the Navajo tribe over the Ute tribe and the land in northeastern Utah known as the Uinta Basin. To the Navajo, Skinwalkers were shape-changing Navajo shaman and they were unleashed on the Utes and this particular part of their land upon which sits the Skinwalker Ranch. Legend has it these "beings" occupy the land.
