His given name was Carman Licciardello, in his years of ministry he simply went by the name of Carman. He died a few years back when there were complications from a fairly routine surgery (which is a reminder there is no such thing as "routine" surgery).
A lot of you may not know of the guy ... I will simply tell you he performed around the world and his "crusades" in stadiums (yes, stadiums) and arenas in America led to packed, standing room only, events and a multitude (100s of thousands) of salvations.
My friendship started with him in the mid-1980's in Phoenix and continued to Tallahassee where I served as his volunteer crusade coordinator for multiple events. We became friends. Not close, exchange phone number friends, but friends who warmly picked-up where they left off.
This song, "Sunday School Rock," is one of my absolute favorites. It's also one of the few songs of his which is shorter. He is an amazing storyteller and his music reflects it. As a bonus, I have added one of those as well - "Jericho."
Enjoy!
