The Florida legislature, with one signature from Gov. Ron DeSantis, expanded Sunshiner's 2nd Amendment rights in a huge way, but it did not give Floridians "Constitutional" carry. That's because Constitutional Carry requires the freedom to open carry.
I was, and am, disappointed.
That said, I will attempt to argue for full, open carry with facts, not name calling. Something that too many on "our" side seem unwilling to do. The fact is, and it is undeniable, permitless carry will save lives. Another fact is that open carry does not lead to the "wild west" which is what some members of the Florida Sheriff's Association have argued.
With all of that out of the way let's take a few minutes and consider the tactic of open carry. For most of us, I think it is an utterly foolish idea and most of us means anyone who is not a member of law enforcement or former military.
But I believe in our right to be foolish.
That said, most who fall into the category of LEO still do not open carry unless they are on duty. Think about that - people trained to deal with violence do not usually open carry when not on the job. Why? Because tactically it is a bad idea to do so.
I came across a guy, "an attorney, gun rights activist, and urban gun enthusiast" who has two and half million followers on his YouTube channel which deals with firearms and related topics. I thought this was a solid breakdown.
