I give thanks to God for the opportunity I have every day to share time with you and so many others. Each day I also remember Rush Limbaugh because I believe he was used to create the space I now occupy. Anyone who talks on the radio for a living owes a debt of gratitude to Rush. Everyone.
I decided to post two things today, two years to the day of his passing.
First, is an 1991 interview with Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes. You had to know Kroft was hoping Limbaugh to be a man of no substance who would cower in the glaring lights of TV cameras and the tick-tick-tick of the 60 Minutes reputation. It didn't happen. I loved the moment when Kroft interviewed the head of some gay and lesbian "Rush Limbaugh Task Force" (no, I did not just make that up) who smiled when he said Limbaugh's popularity at the time wouldn't last.
Maybe that guy is now a Biden advisor. Which leads to the second clip.
It's "the" speech at CPAC (I still play clips on TMSwPS). Yes, "THE SPEECH."
It was that good, that powerful, that articulate. It should be shown to every GOP leader (elected or otherwise) anywhere in the country. It should be shown in schools to teach what conservatism is all about. It was brilliant.
I hope you take the time. One is short, one is long. Both are worth your time.
Rush is missed...especially each and every week day at 12:00 PM Eastern.
