"Stalked and Defenseless" - Nikki Goeser Shares Her Tragic Story

Her story points to the need of carrying and the choices we might have to make when entering a "Gun Free Zone."

Nikki Goeser lost her husband when the man stalking her killed him. It's a sureal story. A dinner at a restaurant which asked diners to not carry a firearm left them defenseless when the stalker rose up from his table and pulled out a firearm shooting and killing Goeser's husband. The killer still torments her from his cell.

This is the problem with gun free zones. Good people generally follow the rules, bad people do not ever. This brings about all kinds of questions. Other than government buildings, airports, etc. do you even patronize "gun free zones?" If you are in one and someone takes out a gun to harm you, a loved one, or someone else and you produce your firearm in defense, are you going to be prosecuted?

Personally, I either don't enter gun free zones or I carry anyway. Usually the former, but there have been cases of the latter where I had to be somewhere, but I did not deem it safe. I will live with the consequences. Notice the choice of words...live.

Nikki's story also reminds me of a story Lee Williams shared of a Florida woman who feared for her life from her ex-boyfriend. Sadly, due to a lack of constitutional carry in Florida she could not obtain a firearm for her own defense in time. She was found dead.

Constitutional carry is needed.

While the bill before the State legislature does not include open carry (A 2nd Amendment right), it does allow for permitless carry and it is a big step forward.

Nikki has turned her tragedy into activism and we talked over all of it.
