Jihyun Park is one of the lucky few to actually escape North Korea. The country is a prison without walls. All one need do is consider how many were herded into masks and shots in America to imagine what life is like when everything is controlled by the communist government and its dictator.
Everything. The news, the TV, the radio, the internet, the education, the food ... everything.
Propaganda calls it the "socialist miracle," but North Korea is nothing of the kind and the truth is most North Koreans simply do not know any better. They have been lied to about the outside world their entire lives.
Jihyun just knew differently and her story is found in the book, "The Hard Road Out."
Her accent makes the interview challenging, but here you can stop, back-up the recording, and listen again because her story is worth the work.
