Short version: FSU law professor Dan Markel was murdered in July 2014 while in his car after pulling into the garage at his home in Tallahassee. It was, almost certainly, a custody related murder-for-hire and likely was orchestrated by members of his ex-wife's family, the Adelsons, if not Wendy Adelson herself.

I believe the case against Charlie (Wendi's brother) makes itself in boatloads of evidence.
Katie Magbanua is the third person who has either plead, or been found, guilty. The first was the driver, Luis Rivera, and then the hitman, Sigfredo Garcia, who happens to be the father of Katie's children and her long-time boyfriend.
But Katie had another love interest. Charlie Adelson. And recordings indicate Charlie used Katie to find the men who would kill his former brother-in-law, Dan Markel. The murder took place one month before a hearing on Markel's claim that Donna Adelson (Wendi's mom) was creating animus in his sons toward him. He had a case and had he prevailed she would not have had access to the boys without a court ordered observer.
