You Did It! Operation Spirit of Christmas Has Reached Its Goal

UPDATE: Operation Spirit of Christmas has surpassed its goal!

We have now raised more than $33,703 to jump past our goal of $32,000. Our plan is to raise monthly support for the home next fall.

We've had amazing participation and match challenges offered. You can be connected to changing the lives of eight children.

These funds go to the building fund for house #3 for Orphan Shade. Go here to donate. Select "build a house" in the drop down menu. This program is not intended to change the world, but it will change the world for eight children at a time. You can still be part of that mission.

Here's the information on our Giving Season recipient this year.

Over the years we have gathered resources and helped others all over the world. From Haiti to Cambodia, Tallahassee to Panama City. This Giving Season we will focus on Malawi, Africa and a program called Orphan Shade.

My wife, Cynthia, went to college with Jay Schierloh and they have been friends ever since. Jay and his wife, Stacey, began Orphan Shade in 2016.

The website tells the story: Orphan Shade was berthed as a shared vision of Pastor Prince Kampomo and Jay Schierloh in 2016. The two developed a friendship after meeting at Church Project and in a House Church that meets in Jay & Stacey’s home in Texas. A conversation began about the challenges that double orphans (both parents of the child have passed away) face in tribal villages in Malawi.

We have two goals this Giving Season which began with Operation Thanksgiving and now segues to Spirit of Christmas.

  1. Help raise funds to build the third orphange at an approximate cost of $32,000. Of course, there may be someone who would like to take on an entire project themselves...just reach out to Jay and he can share some special opportunities. The math is simple if everyone gives a little. I propose giving this month and next month. I know things are tight financially for many, I also know many have been blessed. Regardless, this is a chance to offer some of what we have been given and share it with others who have so very little.
  2. To raise the monthly support for the third home. It costs just $500 a month to provide what these homes need to provide the basics for the orphans and the house parents. We want to provide commitments, monthly pledges, totaling $500/month so that the home may operate securely into the future.

Will you take part?

Here's my visit with Jay.
