When I first heard Matthew West and Carly Pearce's "Truth Be Told" I was captivated by the lyrics. I knew from the first chord it was going to be a melancholy song in the sense that there was omething about the sound which spoke to deeper things.
Then came the words..."Lie number one..." which were followed by "Lie number two...:
Ouch.
The song goes through the things many of us say to ourselves to cover the brokenness inside. However, Matthew points out the only way to get healing, the only to recover is to "admit it;" come to grips with our true self and spend time dealing with whatever the issues, hurts, challenges may be with God.
I love this song. It turns out it is a message of hope. If you are in a bad place or know of someone who is...spend time with this or share it. I picked this version (Matthew does several) because of its simplicity.
