Steve Stewart of Tallahassee Reports has an entire section dedicated to the local elections. Still, many find it cumbersome to read, research, and find out what they feel is needed to make a decision on the upcoming primaries.
A few things need to be noted.
- Some local primaries will, in fact, be the general (final) election. These are races with only two candidates and it will be settled because the contest in a "non-partisan" race. So, you need to vote.
- There is a concerted, overt effort to turn the City Commission progressive (in the worst sense of the word) and each race has dramatic consequences to that end. Some elected Commissioners are actively campaigning against their elected colleagues. #Awkward. It's obvious, undeniable.
- School board races are vital. The school board as it currently is constituted is a train wreck, and I am putting it politely.
What follows is my latest conversation with Steve. You may find it useful.
