When I see people on the side of the road holding a sign asking for money I look closely. Are they smoking? Are they using a cell phone? Are victims of bad luck or bad choices? Is there a car parked not too far away and this is a scam. I know this...if I had someone ten bucks I am likely enabling whatever is going on.
Some people who are homeless are mentally ill, some are addicts, some simply choose to live this way. There are other reasons, but those are the big three. Sadly, these communities are growing, not shrinking.
Elected officials are being short-sighted by making drug use easier and burying their heads in the sand on what is really going on and what really needs to be done. the video is a short documentary on the reality and the solution.
