Most media outlets, TPD quiet after beating
UPDATE: As of approximately 9 PM (EST) on Tuesday evening the Tallahassee Democrat published a story on this terrible crime. My note to the News Editor and Publisher was sent at 4:33 PM. I am certain I had nothing to do with the decision. After-all, Publisher Skip Foster has deemed me irrelevant.
Why would Tallahassee Reports be the only media outlet in the capital city asking questions and covering the story of an apartment security guard being violently beaten by three young men? The attack happened at the Aqua Palms Apartments at 1600 Old Bainbridge Road.
Crimestoppers (850-574-TIPS)is needing help and, clearly, there were plenty of witnesses.
How is it the story gets covered by the Miami Herald, but not the Tallahassee Democrat?
Is it because the victim was white and the attackers were black? If the case were the other way around would the story be all but ignored? Has the Democrat become unable to properly administer its job of covering local news due to a lack of staffing?
Heck, where in the world are the local TV outlets?
Hello? WTXL? WCTV?
Anyone out there?
Is TPD going to release anything but the video? As Tallahassee Reports points out, press releases come out pretty quickly on most occasions.
In the face of the inexplicable lack of coverage and information these are fair questions.
I might be able to logically explain the lack of coverage of local political stories, but this makes no sense. I have asked the News Editor, William Hatfield, for an explanation. I will update the story if I get one.
WARNING: The video is graphic and has profanities.
