When the offer came in I jumped on it, but wanted to share the opportunity with David and Ryan. Ancestry.com offered to test our DNA to allow us to learn more about our heritage.
It was something I had discussed with wife once or twice. I was very curious because I knew virtually nothing about my dad's side of the family other than the obvious - my last name was Scott. So, my hunch is Scotland is in there somewhere. Because my grandfather died very young I never new him and by the time I was old enough to ask about my ancestors my grandmother had passed away. My dad said he knew almost nothing about his grandparents. Neither did his siblings. It represented a bit of a dead end.
I never knew my mom's parents other than they were both Lithuanian. They had both passed away before I was born. But, I knew at least some things about that side of the family. My great uncles were all 6'3" or taller and one was a guard for the last Russian czar - Nicholas II.
So, tomorrow I will learn something...so will Ryan and David. I can't wait.
