President Donald Trump is reported to currently have a -8.4 net approval rating, according to famed polling expert Nate Silver in the latest edition of his Silver Bulletin Substack released on Monday (October 13).

Trump has reportedly made slight improvement from the -9.3 reported one week prior and the -9.4 two weeks ago, but has dropped since the -7.5 three weeks prior. The president has, however, seen the number of Americans who strongly disapprove of his job performance decrease from its peak of 44% to 42.5%, which is closer to his average for his second term in office.

"To be clear, these are bad results for Trump. His handling of the economy this time around is substantially less popular than his term one approach. But when it comes to overall approval, Trump is still more popular now than he was eight years ago (net -8.4 vs. -16.7)," Silver wrote.

Last week, Trump's approval rating reportedly dropped significantly among baby boomers, according to the Harvard Caps Harris poll. The survey, which was conducted online among 2,413 registered voters between October 1 and October 2, has Trump at -13% net approval rating (43% approval and 56% disapproval) among voters 65 or older for the month of September, which is an eight-point decline since the July.

Baby boomers were crucial in Trump's 2024 election victory over Democratic former Vice President Kamala Harris, with the president getting 51% of support among the generation, according to Yahoo! Finance. Trump's overall approval rating was reported to have hit its low-point for his second term in office, according to Ballotpedia.

The president was reported to have a 40% approval rating, which surpassed his previous lowest rating set last month. Trump was reported to have a 43% approval rating in early September and ended the month at 44%, while 54% of voters disapproved his job performance.
