Miami, FL - A new WalletHub analysis finds Miami among the top U.S. cities for basketball fans, driven by the city’s unmatched fan engagement.
WalletHub compared 290 major U.S. cities across 21 key metrics, ranging from team performance and ticket affordability to fan participation online, to determine the best places for basketball lovers.
While Miami didn’t make the overall top five, it stood out in a major way for its passionate and vocal fanbase.
According to the study, Miami ranks first in the country for fan engagement, tied with Cleveland, Boston, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City.
This category was based on social media activity, including Facebook likes and X (formerly Twitter) followers per capita.
WalletHub did not clarify which specific accounts were tracked, but the ranking highlights just how much Miami fans interact with and support their teams online.
Despite not currently boasting a championship contender, Miami fans remain highly active and deeply loyal, showing up for their team both in-person and across social media platforms.
Elsewhere in Florida, Orlando came in at No. 15 overall and tied for first in terms of NBA stadium accessibility, another point of pride for basketball followers in the state.
The top cities for basketball fans overall include Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Philadelphia.
Notably, Philadelphia’s high ranking is largely thanks to its college basketball presence, as it sits lower on the list for NBA-specific engagement.
