Sanford, FL - A Sanford police officer was taken into custody on Sunday morning on charges of driving under the influence along State Road 46 in Seminole County.
The arrest came after a Florida Highway Patrol trooper noticed a Ford F-150 pickup truck exhibiting signs of erratic lane behavior around 4:16 a.m.
Upon stopping the vehicle in the vicinity of International Parkway, the trooper engaged with the driver, identified as 32-year-old Brittany Rainsford.
Rainsford confessed to consuming "a couple beers" and revealed that she had been departing downtown Sanford at the time of the incident.
Following her admission, the trooper administered a field sobriety test, which Rainsford failed.
Rainsford underwent a breath test, indicating a blood alcohol level of .135—nearly twice the legal limit of .08.
Rainsford was booked into the Seminole County jail, where she is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Sanford police have suspended Rainsford without pay as they investigate Sunday's arrest.
