Intoxicated Man Arrested for Assaulting Deputy at Florida Resort

Monroe County, FL - A 50-year-old intoxicated Canadian man was arrested for assaulting a deputy at a Florida resort, resulting in charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, disorderly conduct, and disorderly intoxication.

In a troubling incident at Hawks Cay Resort on Tuesday, 50-year-old Brent Rowley was arrested after assaulting a law enforcement officer while under the influence of alcohol.

The assault occurred around 7:15 p.m. when the Monroe County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a commotion involving guests at the resort located on Duck Key.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered Rowley, who was exhibiting aggressive behavior and refusing to comply with their commands.

According to investigators, Rowley proceeded to push and pull at the deputies in an attempt to resist arrest.

The situation escalated when Rowley struck one of the deputies in the face.

Officers took Rowley into custody and transported him to the Monroe County Jail on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, disorderly conduct, and disorderly intoxication.

His bond has been set at $54,500.
