Hasidic Jewish Man Removed From Fort Lauderdale Delta Flight Over Hat

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (WIOD.com via BocaNewsNow.com) — Delta Airlines is investigating the removal of a Hasidic Jewish man from a Fort Lauderdale to NYC LaGuardia flight, apparently over his hat.

In video posted to social media, the man is seen being escorted from Delta Flight 1541 -- in Fort Lauderdale -- last week. The flight attendant, according to several witnesses, told the man that "you people" carry too much luggage. "You people" is considered to be an antisemitic reference.

The man was accused of taking too much space with his hat which was placed in an overhead that video shows was largely empty.

Delta Airlines issued this statement to “South Florida's First News with Andrew Colton” on NewsRadio 610 WIOD late Thursday night:

“Delta is aware of and in the preliminary stages of investigating a situation regarding a customer being asked to exit flight 1541 and be rebooked on an alternate flight. We are committed to using the results this investigation to come to a full understanding of the events that took place and respond as appropriate.”

The incident was first reported by VINNews and subsequently verified by WABC-TV7 in New York. Additional reporting on BocaNewsNow.com.
