Governor says Sunshine State is nation's job growth hot spot

Florida's economy is roaring back from the pandemic according to a bullish Governor Ron DeSantis. The governor says Florida is leading the nation in job growth and it isn't even close.

"In the month of September Florida reached a level of job growth that we've only seen four other times in the past 30 years," Governor DeSantis said. "You had nationally 194,000 jobs reported in the month of September."

Speaking Monday in North Venis in Sarasota County, the governor said Florida accounted for 84,000 of those jobs.

"According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of businesses forming in Florida has increased by 34% in the first 41 weeks of 2021 compared to the first 41 weeks of 2020."

Florida's jobless rate has fallen to 4.9%. Governor DeSantis spoke at the headquarters of Tervis Tumbler which manufactures insulated plastic drinkware.
