Aventura Temple Holding Drive-In Services For High Holy Days

Tonight marks the start of the Jewish High Holy Days with Rosh Hashanah -the Jewish New Year-beginning at sundown. Because of the pandemic, most temples are streaming services online. But the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center is offering drive-in services at Dezerland Park in North Miami where congregants will listen to services from a radio station in their car just as if they were watching a drive-in movie. Rabbi Jonathan Berkun says they had to get creative---the service will be viewed from a giant 40-foot screen and they are building a make-shift outdoor bimah to display the torah scrolls. The temple will do the same drive-in service on Yom Kippur.
