Oral Arugments Being Heard In Major Florida Gun Case

The First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee hearing oral arguments this morning in a Florida gun control lawsuit pitting the state against local governments. The state wants the court to overturn a circuit judge's ruling saying parts of a 2011 law threatening to fine city and county officials thousands of dollars and kick them out of office if they approve stricter gun regulations than the state has in place are unconsitutional. The city of Weston got involved in the suit post Parkland Mayor Daniel Stermer says gun regulation is a local issue falling under "legislative immunity" The state argues the law is needed to prevent cities and counties from overstepping their legal authority.
