Governor gives lawmakers pep talk as session begins in Tallahassee.

"And they're off!" State legislators have begun their annual two month law-making frenzy in Tallahassee after hearing Governor Ron DeSantis give his State of the State address.

"We can't rest on past accomplishments," Governor DeSantis said. "Our only easy day was yesterday."

The governor said Florida must remain steadfast in its commitment to low taxes and fiscal responsibility.

"We have the good fortune to be attracting investment in business activity and a good potential for further growth in areas such as aerospace, financial services, healthcare and manufacturing."

To realize this potential, DeSantis says Florida needs to tax lightly, spend wisely and regulate reasonably. The governor is encouraging lawmakers to focus on the three "R's": education, the environment and the economy.
