Sarasota Mail Facility Struck by Lightning

SARASOTA -- The postal service says neither rain nor sleet nor snow will keep the mail from getting through.

But what about lightning?

Wednesday evening around 8:40, a bolt struck a distribution station near Sarasota-Bradenton airport that handles letters and packages all the way down to Fort Myers.

The postal service says some operations were disrupted but that all packages meant to go out Thursday did so.

Operations are expected to return to normal by Friday.
