Florida Sheriff Is Hiring For Several Positions

If you know someone looking to work in law enforcement, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is hosting a job fair.

"We are specifically looking for sworn positions, part time and full time, in the law enforcement arena as well as the corrections arena. And we're also looking for deputies for court security."

Karen Thomas is the Human Resources Division Manager at PBSO.

She says all sworn officer applicants must be certified with some experience, she would prefer a minimum of three years.

The Sheriff's Office is also hiring 911 dispatchers as well as school crossing guards.

"That's one position that we're continually looking for. So, even though the school year is starting next week, we're continually looking for school crossing guards."

Thomas says retired people and stay-at-home moms love working as crossing guards because, in the case of the moms, it gives them something to do once they've taken their kids to school.

Support staff is also needed for the jails, including the stockade where Jeffrey Epstein spent 13 months back in 2008.

The job fair is being held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Army Reserve Center on Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach. It's right across from the sheriff's headquarters.
