Eight people are injured after lightning struck Clearwater Beach yesterday afternoon.
One man is in critical condition after he was directly hit by lightning, causing him to go into cardiac arrest.
Clearwater Public Communications Director Joelle Castelli says lifeguards left their towers fifteen minutes before the incident due to bad weather.
All of the people affected by the lightning strike were in the beach area behind seafood restaurant Frenchy's Rockaway Grill.
