Sheriff: Sarasota Couple Abused Teen by Zip Tying Him to Plywood

Couple Accused of Ziptying Boy

SARASOTA -- A 41-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman are facing charges after deputies and police say they kept a teenage boy tied up without a bed or sheets and denied him meals.

The sheriff's office responded Sunday to Frank McKay's home after someone recorded video of the teen tied to a bunk bed with a chain made of zip ties. His bed was a piece of plywood on the lower bunk with no sheets or pillows. The victim told investigators he was kept tied up for stealing money to buy food at school. The teen said he did this because he wasn't getting enough food at home.... no breakfast and a salad, banana and two bottles of water for lunch and dinner. Two other children in the house were not tied up and were allowed to have normal meals.

Detectives found out the teen was also tied up while visiting McKay's girlfriend, Adecia Johnson, 38, (left) who lives inside the Sarasota city limits.

McKay is jailed without bond. Deputies say he's facing two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of aggravated child abuse. Johnson faces similar charges and is also jailed without bond.
