CDC Director Aims To End AIDS Epidemic

South Florida could play a role in ending a deadly disease.

CDC Director Robert Redfield was in Miami Beach yesterday to discuss a plan to end the AIDS epidemic.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, "The administration is directing funds and resources to 50 jurisdictions with the most new transmissions of HIV throughout the United States; 7 of which are located in Florida."

Three of those counties are in South Florida; Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward where new HIV cases are on the rise.

Redfield says we have the tools to make the goal a reality, and if that happens, we'll be a beacon to the world.
