Suspended Broward Sheriff Testifies In Hearing To Get His Job Back

Suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel fighting to get his job back as he testifies in his own defense at a final hearing before the full Senate votes on whether or not to uphold his suspension. Governor Ron DeSantis suspended Israel back in January, just 3 days after being sworn into office for incompetence and neglect during the Parkland massacre. He calls the timing "politically motivated" saying the governor was fulfilling a campaign promise. Israel says the arrest of former Deputy Scot Peterson brings up significant information, showing why he should keep his job. He says it proves active shooter training was provided to all deputies and all policies were being followed. He says he cannot be held responsible for Peterson's inaction. Calls to the governor's office have not yet been returned.
