David Allen-Program Director WFLA FM/Producer for The Morning Show with Preston Scott
I have been fortunate enough to call radio my career since 1989 but my love for it started much earlier than that. When I was a child, like a lot of kids, I used to pretend to be “the guy on the radio”. Even though I was told that this path was not for me I proved my doubters wrong and have been doing it ever since.
I got my start in my home town of Asheville NC and after six months became Program Director. Eventually I went on to work with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. My move to Florida came in 1997 living in Melbourne until I moved to Orlando in 2003. My work with iHeartRadio there led to my arrival in Tallahassee in November 2015. And while I haven’t been here long I find Tallahassee to feel like a mix of Florida and North Carolina, which means I fit in quite nicely.
I have enjoyed much success in all of my roles during my career, from working On Air, designing web sites, writing and producing commercials, promotions and even a stint as receptionist (true story). I was once asked “is there nothing you can’t do” to which I responded NO. I have done almost every job in radio because I love it and I bring my experience to everything I do!
The funny thing about loving something is that it gives you a passion, a passion to do and be the best! That is what I bring with me every day!
