Honda has announced an urgent recall of over 259,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potentially deadly brake pedal defect. The recall affects specific models of the 2021–2025 Acura TLX, 2023–2025 Acura MDX, and 2023–2025 Honda Pilot, with the Pilot accounting for the majority of the affected vehicles.
The issue stems from a misplaced pin on the brake pedal arm, which could cause the pedal to shift out of position, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Although Honda estimates that only 1 percent of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect, the company is taking precautionary measures to ensure customer safety.
Dealers were informed of the issue on June 13, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by July 28. Customers with affected vehicles are advised to visit a dealership, where technicians will inspect the brake pedal and install replacement parts if necessary.
For more information, vehicle owners can check the status of their vehicles through the NHTSA recall database.
