The Utah Hockey Club (32-27-11) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (40-24-5) 6-4 on Saturday evening in Salt Lake City. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Tampa Bay.
Utah built a lead of 2-0 before Tampa Bay got goals form Brayden POint in the first and Anthony Cirelli in the second to tie the game. After exchanging goals in the second, Utah took a 4-3 lead late in the period before scoring early in the third to make it a 5-3 advantage.
Brayden Point scored to pull the Lightning within 5-4, but that was as close as the Lightning would get. Utah hit an empty netter with an under a minute to go in the game to make it a 6-4 final score.
Brandon Halverson got the start in net for Tampa Bay and went 19-for-24 in the losing effort.
The Lightning are next in action in the second game of a back-to-back when they travel to Vegas to play the Golden Knights on Sunday night. Puck drop from Las Vegas is scheduled for 8:00 PM on Sunday evening.
