Here's How Much Your Stimulus Check Will Be If It Gets Approved On Tuesday

It won't be long before America finds out if another relief package will be passed before Election Day. On Sunday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi set a 48-hour deadline to come to terms on a deal. She spoke about her timeline on This Week, saying, "The 48 only relates to if we want to get it done before the election, which we do, but we’re saying to them, we have to freeze the design on some of these things. Are we going with it or not and what is the language? I'm optimistic because, again, we've been back and forth on all of this."

For weeks, Democrats and Republicans have been going back and forth over the next bill. Republicans were upset about the price tag of it while Democrats wanted more benefits included in it. As it stands, they aren't too far apart - the White House has proposed a $1.8 trillion package while Democrats want one valued at $2.2 trillion.

As for a stimulus check, it seems both sides agree on it and if it passes, the second check, like the first one, will be for $1,200 for eligible adults. Rather than the first bill though, this one could see $1,000 for each qualifying dependents, as opposed to the $500 the initial package offered. Much like the first check, the second one will likely go to Americans making less than $99,000 or, if they file jointly, under $198,000.

The White House bill also sees unemployment benefits continue but instead of at $600 a week, they would be for $400 a week. Additionally, there is funding for COVID testing and tracing as well as $300 billion to assist cities and states. Democrats would like to see more funding for testing and tracing than is being offered, plus $600 in weekly unemployment payments, more local and state funding, as well as housing assistance.

As the clock ticks away to Tuesday, the country will learn very soon if a second stimulus check is coming.
