Trump Says He 'Should Have Left' UCLA Players in Jail

President Donald Trump said Sunday that he "should have left" the three UCLA basketball players with China after one of the player's fathers suggested Trump had little to do with his son's release.

Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal. I should have left them in jail!

On Friday, LaVar Ball, the outspoken father of freshman LiAngelo Ball who was detained along with two other players in Hangzhou, was asked about Trump's involvement in his son's release. "

"Who?" he asked. "What was he over there for? Don't tell me nothing," LaVar Ball told ESPN. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out."

The three UCLA basketball players were taken into custody earlier this month following allegations of them shoplifting sunglasses from the Louis Vutton store in Hangzhou China. All three players thanked the president for his part in their release during a press conference last Wednesday.
