Monday Message - God's Concerns About Our Condition

My brother and I once got into a "discussion" about, not just God but specifically, the Bible. I was a young man, but had spent a good bit of time reading His Word. I also had spent time studying apologetics (giving a defense for my faith). Now Michael, thirteen years older, was a bright guy ... big heart and emotional, but a self-proclaimed agnostic. He was prone to getting pretty wound up when debating much of anything. Passionate would be a good word to describe Mike.

On this particular occasion he got hemmed in and was beginning to lose his cool. But he caught himself and, with the humor he could deploy at such times, ended our "discussion' with, "Well, you know me Preston ... I always criticize books I've never read."

To those who have never read (or seldom read) scripture, the things of God can seem silly. However, the ways of the world fall right into place and make total sense when you commit to spending time reading, praying, and seeking to understand what God says to us through His Bible.

This teaching is another occasion when things written long ago prove, once again, how relevent they are in our "modern" world.
