The shooting in Allen, Texas in early May left many dead, others wounded. Had there not been an Allen Police Officer nearby when the incident began it would have been worse. Initially, I thought the officer lost time by not taking his vehicle to the source of the shooting, but his foot pursuit was the only way he could hear to locate the shooter.
This body camera footage is as close as you can get to experiencing what happens during these tragedies.
Some thoughts ...
- There is nothing graphic in the video, so aside from the intensity you will see no bloodshed.
- The people at the outlet mall had no clue something like this was going to happen which speaks to the need to always be preared and carry for your own protection. Remember, this officer happened to be there. Police react to crimes and seldom are in the right place at the right time to prevent, or limit them.
- Most importanyly, I want to highlight that most of the men and women who serve our communities run to the gun shots, not away.
