I have shared the story, but here's the CliffNotes version. Shortly after her first election to Congress, the former homeless farmer from the Gainesville area appeared on television. I was blown away. Kat Cammack was authentic. I suppose you tend to be when you have gone through what she and her family did. There's no reason to sanitize any of it.
After doing thousands and thousands of interviews I had long grown tired of hearing from politiicians. Plenty of words, sometimes, but nothing is said. I grew weary of politicians who only wanted to take the time to talk to constituents when it was election time.
I decided I would try to find statesmen and women who had substance, depth. I swung for the fences and reached out to Kat's office. Not only did she agree to come on the program, she enjoyed it so much she agreed to come on once a month.
While I have not agreeds with every vote she has cast, I have personally concurred with nearly all of them and I will leave room for those differences. In this visit (featured on my "Conversations" podcast on iHeart Radio), you will hear us cover ground...lots of it.
